Scientist Liza Chaikin is desperately unhappy. Overweight and under- confident, she believes that happiness belongs only to the beautiful. Driven to near suicide, a mysterious stranger offers her a magical cream with the power to totally transform her appearance however she is warned that it will come at a great cost. Unconcerned, Liza transforms into stunning alter- ego Klara and finds the life she always dreamed of, but she soon realizes that the warnings about the cream were justified, and as the strain of living a lie starts to take its toll, Liza begins to question whether beauty and happiness really are as interlinked as she first thought.
